RE: Where did all the analog VOMs go?

I still have a 160, 260, AND.... an RCA Senior VoltOhmist running the original tubes!
But I USE my Fluke
Don't forget to take the bias battery out of the Sr. Voltohmist when you're not using it! (Unless you replaced it with the bias supply.)Battery last changed around 1985. It's starting to go...

RE: How to get an RV to Hawaii?

$1000.00 a week plus will rent you an 26' RV fully equipped, plus mileage, fuel and insurance. I found a shipping cost from a port in San Diego to Honolulu Hawaii for a 11,500 lb 24' class c at $14,000.00 July 13,2008.WOW!
I shipped a 55,000lb 40' TV remote truck from Torrance, CA. to San Juan, PR (via the Houston port) and it cost me $8k door to door.

RE: Can GPS learn preferred routes?

My Garmin will, but I think it's the last of it's kind. I have also noticed that there can be considerable differences between how it gets me from point A to point B vs. the return trip, and could take 10-15 miles on a 50 mile trip for it to quit complaining the the route it just got me to point B with is in fact the best one going home.

RE: Extended Stay Full RV Hookups in Santa Barbara

I was going to suggest Cachuma as well. Many years ago they had long-termers but don't know if that's still the case.

RE: Wireless Provider Conspiracy Theory?

That's why you rarely see old cellphones around. It's actually a 3rd party organization that contracts out the "service" as they call it.
The home office doesn't even have an address, but it's not hard to spot: W115 49 00" N37 14 00"

RE: The BBQ Song

Did anyone notice that when they showed Florida....it was really a silhouette of California? That's cuz Florida ain't a Southern State.. :B
Really now, the 3rd state to suceed from the union, the only southern capitol not captured by the union and the major beef supplier to General Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. The Florida that most of the nation knows about starts around Orlando. Time for North Florida and the panhandle to suceed AGAIN!(Man I'm askin' for it on this one..)
As long as you don't adopt that NC "BBQ Sauce" to the new world order. That stuff just ain't right...

RE: How Good Is This Antenna?

The antenna the OP is talking about is not the Smart Antenna version, but the DTA-3500 amplified antenna. The one referred to by SCVJeff is the DTA-5000 Smart Antenna. The DTA-3500 does come with a remote to aim it. I wonder if it is better than the Winegard antenna that you need to crank around? I also wanted to know how big the Smart Antenna is. I've been looking for an installation or user manual online and can't find one.
KathyTake a look at the link I have of mine above if that helps. I can measure it if you need something closer.

RE: Sleep Number Bed from Campingworld.

Have one in the coach and it's great, doesn't leak, doesn't feel like an air mattress, compressor never runs so the fact that it's silent makes no difference. Want hard? run it up and you'll get HARD. Is it better than the one at the house? No, but there is at least a 4x difference in $$ between them.

RE: Where did all the analog VOMs go?

Yep, when there transmitting live, the excessive RF is back feeding into my meters.:CThat was my guess when I started reading this. We've seen this on the big TV Tx's in the past as well.

RE: Increasing FM reception

If you can deal with an 'F' connector on the radio, the Winegard Batwing might work just fine since it's a low & VHF antenna and amp anyway. The FM band is right in the middle.

RE: Fuel efficency experiment

I don't know about it being a national speed limit, but most states say rural roads unmarked as far as speed have a established speed limit of 55...It was definitely a rural unmarked (for speed) road; just cows and barbed wire. I thought is was 65, got pop-radared, so he beat my detector, at 72 in a 55. Ticket: $5 :)

RE: Fuel efficency experiment

I don't think you'll find a place where people drive faster than they do in Southern California.Driving 37mi each way from the 14 to 405 every day (and back from Fresno last night), I'll have to go with Houston too. 80mph seems to be slow lane.
